Gula

The Goddess of Healing, Compassion, and Restoration.

In Mesopotamian mythology, Gula is revered as the divine healer, the one who restores not only the body, but also the soul and destiny. When all remedies fail, she is the final hope not through sudden miracles, but through deep, patient, and true healing.

In one story, a woman weakened by illness loses all her strength, beyond the reach of any cure. In desperation, her family prays to Gula. That night, she dreams of a silent temple, a sacred dog, and a gentle goddess who touches her without a word. By morning, she is not fully healed but for the first time, she can breathe, and she finds the strength to stand. Day by day, she recovers, because Gula’s power is not instant it is enduring, transformative, and real.

Often symbolized with a sacred dog, Gula embodies compassion, care, and the quiet resilience of recovery.

This piece carries her essence a reminder that healing is a journey, not a moment.
